Introduction

Acupuncture has a very long history with the use of stone and bone needles dating back to 2,400 BCE. According to the principles of TCM, there are twelve main channels that flow in the body, and the insertion of very fine needles affects the flow of energy (Qi). This facilitates disease treatment and health enhancement. Western Medicine explains the beneficial effect of Acupuncture because needling stimulates the release of substances such as endorphins, cortisol and serotonin.

What is it good for?

DIGESTION – Bloating, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Ulcers, Colitis etc

WOMENS HEALTH – Irregular periods, Pre-menstrual tension, Infertility. Menopause, etc

MUSCULOSKELETAL PAIN – Lumbago, Sciatica, Frozen shoulder, Tennis elbow etc

STRESS – Headaches, Panic attacks, Insomnia, Irritability, etc

IMMUNE PROBLEMS – Tiredness, Chronic fatigue, Recurrent infections, Arthropathies, etc

What happens in a consultation?

You will be asked a wide range of questions, some similar to an orthodox Medical consultation, and some very different! You may experience a slight sensation when the needles are inserted, however most clients find the therapeutic effect far outweighs any minor discomfort. The needles are usually retained for about 20 minutes.

Preparation and Requirements

A responsive attitude and loose clothing are fundamental to the session. It is best not to drink alcohol, overeat, or exercise heavily for an hour and a half before or after a session.
